In this section of Auction-Know-How, we are going to learn more about how to search eBay. eBay is huge with many categories and many items in each category so if you know how to search eBay, this will save you lots of time.
You Might Want To Browse First
In another window, open up eBay to the home page. Close to the top of the page on the left you will see "categories". For this example select Antiques and click on that. This will take you to a page of all the categories within antiques. On the right side of the page you will see "show items". Click on these words and you will be directed to a listing of all the items.
At the time I am writing this, the page tells me there are over 14,000 items listed in antiques. If you do not have a picture of the items showing, click on the words "picture galery" at the top of the box.
Now from here you should be able to look at a small picture of the items with a small description. If you want to look at it better or read more, just click on that item to bring the actual auction up.
You also will notice on the right side of the page that is a "sort by" search box. On this drop down menu you can select the way you want the items to be listed for you while you are browsing.
You can view many ways. A few are "newly listed", "ending today", and "starting today". Lots of people like to take their favorite category and look to see what is new and also what is ending today in case they want to put in a last minute bid.
For our example we are going to search eBay for a picnic basket. Since we don't know which category for sure this might be listed in we are going to search all categories.
Head back to the window you have eBay in and find the search box. In the search box type the words "picnic basket". At the time of my searched eBay there were almost 500 items listed for picnic baskets! Look at the prices! They are fantastic. Some of the baskets start under $10.00. Now can you see how learning to buy and sell on eBay is going to save or make you money? And since time is money you want to search eBay the easiest and fastest way.
Play with the search box for a while and browse different categories and you will soon be able to find anything you want. There is always help from eBay for any questions you might have at their "HELP" tab at the top right hand of the home page.
If you didn't register for eBay earlier, do it now so you can start shopping.
