Online auctions may be your cup of tea if you don't like attending live ones. Really smart entrepreneurs use both. They attend the live auctions then sell the smaller items on the internet! Most people have heard of eBay, but there are many more auctions. There is Amazon.com,Ubid.com, and Liquidators.com to name just a few online auctions. The most popular are eBay and Amazon. For regular merchandise I prefer eBay, but for books, cd's and video games, I prefer Amazon. After you familiarize yourself with a few of these online auctions you will know which ones fit your choice of buying and selling the best. I have been buying and selling at online auctions for years and hate having to buy anything at retail price in the stores anymore. Auction-Know-How will teach you how to find the best bargains and keep that money in your pocket, not the retailers. Now what I'm about to tell you is not the financial story of the year, but it is an example to show you that you never know what is going to sell online. Throw all your preconceived ideas out the window. It takes some trial and error on your part but just have fun with it. I was garage sale shopping, looking for collectables and items I thought would sell on eBay when I saw a rack of clothing. I found a brand new Fairy Princess Dress with a Tiara for a child about three years old. The price on the outfit was just $2.00 but before I said anything the woman having the sale said she would take $1.00. She said her daughter had never worn it. Well at this point, I wasn't even thinking of putting it in an auction, I was thinking it might fit one of my grandchildren.Later that week I was listing my items on eBay and decided to take photos and put the little dress on because I noticed it had the Disney label inside. Within a couple of days I received an email from a woman in London, England. She asked if she paid the extra postage would I ship out of the country. I agreed. I had listed the little dress for a starting bid of $5.00. The woman from England did finally get the highest bid but she ended up paying $33.00 plus shipping to England for it!. Not bad for an item that cost me $1.00! That rush of excite you feel when someone bids is so much fun. It's almost as good when you are buying. Shopping on the internet is like having a large mall right at your fingertips. One of my hobbies is making jewlery. Besides shopping at Michaels, and Hobby Lobby, I like to buy my beads and fasteners on the internet. There is one particular eBay store that I shop at for beads. Shopping on the internet gives me the freedom to shop when I want, not the hours the retail store is open. There are so many items to pick from too, but with the search engines and the search tools on the auction sites, it is very easy to find what you are looking for. Each auction site has it's own way of registering, searching, and bidding and the sites will usually have some form of tutorial.
