How to Buy Online At eBay

Before learning how to buy you must learn how to search. In the searching eBay section you learned how to easily use the search function. Now it is time to learn how to buy online.

Remember how we looked up the picnic basket? Let's use one of those for an example. Don't forget to keep eBay up in a separate window while learning how to buy so you can follow along.

Go back and re-search for the basket or any other item if you have already exited from that search. Select one of the listings and click on it to open it. Knowing how to buy on eBay is a piece of cake once you know how to read the auction listing and bid.

Reading The Page Info

On the listing you will see the opening bid, the current bid and if they have a "buy it now" listing, you will see that also. Reading all the information on the listing will give you better knowledge on how to bid and how to buy.

On the right side of the page you will see a section called "meet the seller". Here you can see if the seller has a store, email the seller with a question about the item, or check out the sellers feedback.

Feedback! What's That?

Good feedback is the most important thing you can aquire at eBay. Every buyer and seller has a feedback section. When you buy from someone on eBay you should leave feedback for them. They will also usually leave feedback for you for paying on time.

Never leave negative feedback on someone unless you are sure they really truly deserve it. If you purchase something that you don't get, email the seller first to see what the problem may be. It could have gotten lost in the mail and the seller has no idea unless you tell him. Negative feedback can not be erased!

People who shop on eBay will sometimes look to see what kind of feedback you have before purchasing something from. You can read more about feedback on eBay.

********Very Important Message********

Let's just go on a little bit more on feedback here then we will go on to how to bid online. I know that most of you that are reading this are going to want to sell something online so this feedback section is very important.

If you are planning on selling on eBay you need to build up some positive feedback ASAP! You can do this by doing a little shopping on eBay. There are lots and lots of items on eBay under $5.00 that you can buy and get that feedback started coming in. That way when you get ready to list something to sell you will have some feedback with positive remarks.

Just think of things you are normally going to buy anyway and start searching for them on eBay. You will probably find you saved yourself money by doing this.

Be sure you leave feedback for the seller you bought from too. To get a general idea of what people say, go into the feedback of the person that is selling the picnic basket and check it out.

Okay, let's pretend you've done your search, found what you want to buy and are ready to bid.

You have been sure to read the description and payment and shipping information twice to be sure you know for sure what is expected of you should you have the winning bid.

If the item has the "buy it now"option and you wish to go ahead and pay that amount, just click on the button and you will be taken to check out and make a payment.

If you wish to make a bid for the item to see if you can pay less, you will have to wait until the end of the auction period to see if you are the highest bidder. Each auction will have the auction ending time listed on the auction.

Once you are ready to bid, scroll down to the bottom of the page to the bidding section. Enter the maximum amount you are willing to spend in the bid box and then click the Place Bid Button.

You will then have to enter your user ID and password(the one you registered with earlier) and then click the Confirm Bid Button.

Now, that doesn't mean that you will have to pay that much, but the amount you listed in the box is the amount you are willing to pay up to. eBay will now bid on your behalf up the maximum that you listed and they will also keep you informed by email if someone should over bid you. This is called proxy bidding.

See, I told you knowing how to buy on eBay was easy. It can't get any easier than this. eBay takes care of it for you after you put in your amount. In case you do get overbid, ebay emails you, so if you want to raise your amount you can.

Now, let us say you are the high bidder. Besides eBay emailing you, the seller will also email you because they want to get paid so they can ship the item out to you. There are several methods of payment. Each seller has their preferred payment options listed on their auction listing. You will find the majority of the sellers have a favorite and that favorite is a company called Paypal.

Some sellers will take checks, money orders and cashiers check too, but they will still offer some kind of option for buyers that want to use a credit card or bank card, and that is what Paypal does.

Paypal will make your buying and selling on eBay so much more convenient if you will use them. People can register for a free account with Paypal and either have their bank or credit card on file. Paypal is completely safe with your information. I've used them for about 10 years and have never had a problem.

When you get the bid on an item you can immediately pay with Paypal and the seller not only gets paid right away, but you get your merchandise shipped right away. It's a win win situation for everyone.

You will find out when you start selling how nice it is to have people putting money in your Paypal account when they purchase products from you.

Click on the link below to get your free account with Paypal.

Go To Paypal

Okay, you've registered with eBay and now your paypal account is set up so you are ready to begin. Don't forget to start browsing for items, place a few bids and buy a few things to get your feedback started.
